Importing Cards &
De-Duping
Import flash cards in
seconds from FlashcardExchange and Quizlet, two of the most
popular
online flash card sites, import from CSV, or create them by hand on your mobile device. You can browse your own Quizlet sets or search the Quizlet database.
If
FlashCards++ detects duplicate cards, you will be prompted to merge the
cards
together. If it is a false duplicate (e.g. synonyms), you can choose not
to
merge the cards. You can also easily find duplicate cards from the “View
All
Cards” screen after you have imported or created cards. You can also import cards with images.
Backup Your Flashcards
FlashCards++ has integrated support for Dropbox, which allows you to back up your flash card data and statistics to the cloud securely and easily. The entire database files will be available to you and can also be opened locally on your computer using Sqlite. You can view all of your previous backups and restore them at any time.
Spaced Repetition
Based on how you rate your answers—easy, ok, barely, almost, or fail—FlashCards++ determines which of your flash cards are easiest and which are most difficult. This “E-Factor” is the foundation of the Spaced Repetition system which makes FlashCards++ a unique offering on the iPhone and iPod Touch. Based upon the algorithm pioneered by SuperMemo with over 25 years of research and real-world testing, FlashCards++ determines how often you should study each card depending on how easy or how difficult it is. By spacing out repetitions, FlashCards++ helps you build long-term memory and not simply cram for tomorrow’s test.
Smart Study Mode
Most flash cards programs let you study cards in a random order. But FlashCards++ takes studying a step further: in “smart” study, it shows you more difficult cards more frequently, and easier cards less often. This allows you to learn the same number of flash cards in half the time since the more difficult information is drilled into your head again and again until you remember them, while the easiest cards are pulled up less often. This smart study data is then fed into the spaced repetition system so that you will be tested on harder cards more often—and will then continue to remember them as you continue to memorize them.
Special Characters & Dictionary Lookup
FlashCards++ supports Unicode and other special characters, and so is the perfect tool to learn a foreign language. Whether your language has umlauts, ess-tsets, alephs, deltas, or diacritics—FlashCards++ can import and use them all.
Additionally, you can easily look up the definitions of terms on-the-go, even while you are studying, by using the dictionary lookup function. Simply click "Edit" to view the card data and then the arrow next to the card's name. You'll be transported directly to Google within the app and will be able to see the definition!
Advanced Statistics & Reporting
Track your learning with the advanced statistics and reporting tools in FlashCards++. Find out how difficult your cards are, when they will be due, and how much time you are spending studying flash cards. Better understand your study habits by seeing how many cards you are memorizing per day, and how many cards you are learning based on how much time you put in.
